View a video of a hobby feeding

There's never been a better time to spot hobbies in Britain. A decline in persecution may be helping, and another factor could be rising dragonfly numbers due to warmer summers and the creation of gravel pits and reservoirs.

Hobbies look like giant swifts or petite peregrines as they outmanoeuvre prey, with swallows, dragonflies and other big insects all on the menu. This video by wildlife photographer Edwin Kats shows one handsome individual perched on a branch dismembering a cockchafer. Enjoy!
