Early spring plant walk
Join plant enthusiast Peter Day for a stroll around our wetlands to hear about the specially adapted plants that inhabit the margins of our pools and lakes.
Learn how to identify some of the key plants that grow in and around the water, from alder trees, to the early springtime plants such as marsh marigold, blackthorn and willow that can add swathes of colour to the reserve.
The walk will last 1.5 - 2 hours.

This demonstration is all about native plants for a natural pond!
As well as being attractive garden features ponds can be a real help to wildlife providing homes for insects, nurseries for amphibians and drinking water for birds. Our plant expert, Alwyn Craven, will talk you through the construction and planting of your pond with handy tips on what, when and how to plant.
Alwyn's demonstration will be in the RBC Rain garden where you'll also get plenty of planting ideas and inspiration for the best ways to use water in your garden.

Go 'Mad as a Hatter' this Easter at Trentham Monkey Forest
From 31st March to 15th April - over the Easter weekend and school holidays - Trentham Monkey Forest near Stoke on Trent has planned lots of fun activities for all ages. There will be a special Easter themed treasure trail, lively weekend performances from Alice in Wonderland, story telling plus the chance to sing and dance with the Wonderland characters.
This is a wonderful time of year to take the opportunity to walk along natural pathways, enjoying the 60 acres of stunning woodland and, of course, do some monkey spotting! Trentham Monkey Forest is home to 140 endangered Barbary macaques and visitors can literally step into their world and learn about the fascinating primate through close contact with the 2 groups who live in the forest. The fantastic, open setting allows the macaques to display completely natural behaviour as they would in the wild.
Monkey Forest is open from 10am and last admissions are at 4pm.
