About a Brook - the secret life of water voles

Postby VoleWriter » Sun Apr 23, 2017 3:43 pm

Hi! My name's Kate Long and I've been blogging about my local water voles colonies for over 10 years. I started the blog so it would be a public record for developers and councils, in the hope my records would help protect these endangered animals.

I also wanted it to be a collection of images showing field signs, so that anyone who suspected there might be water voles on a particular patch could check out the photos of feeding, paw prints, burrows and droppings. You are free to use any images from my blog as long as you credit me. Please do spread the word, because the more folk who know about water voles, and who log their sightings with councils, WTs and landowners, the safer voles will be.

The most recent post is an illustrated script for a talk for children about water voles, and how you can help them. Anyone is welcome to use the script, but I'd like a credit if you do, please. When I give my talk to Y4 and 5, I intend to take along a Pringles tube, some chopped up vegetation and maybe a little pot of droppings too.
