Autumnwatch - this Friday

It's back according to the TV guide. Friday evening BBC2 8:30 - 9:30. Will be interesting without Kate this year. Everyone else looking forward to it?

I had not seen, so thanks for the info. I have thought Michela Strachan has done some good stuff in the past, focussing on the subject matter rather than "entertainment value". Hopefully she will manage a better balance in the series with less focus on creating phoney drama (the "and will the blue beaked wart stumbler survive the drizzle forecast for tomorrow ..." when they are semi aquatic anyway ...).

Hope so to.
"and will the blue beaked wart stumbler survive the drizzle forecast for tomorrow ..."

That is annoying especially as we won't know until we watch the following day's programme.

Really looking forward to it, I much prefer Autumnwatch's format over springwatch - not least because there's less chance for the dreaded story developers to try and create drama!

I used to really like Michaela Strachan when I was growing up, were her and Chris not together on the Really Wild Show? I'm sure she'll do a great job

I to like the format. Chris and Michaela presented it together for 93, 94 & 95. Really enjoyed that programme, great way of getting youngsters interested in wildlife. Pity they cancelled it.

I can't wait! I'm looking forward to updates on the Ospreys in Wales & seeing how the new team gell.

I love the fact Autumnwatch inspires more people to get out & appriceate British nature. Check out these Autumnwatch http://www.sussexwt.org.uk/autumnwatch.htm webpages from my local wild life trust.

I like how they set up different events to get people involved with wildlife just wish they woul tone down the "drama" in the programmes (you know the 'will it/won't it survive the night dun-dun-derrrr' how can we tell before the following day).

Oh dear. What a shame.

One amazing aspect; how can they make such a long program with so little content - quite an achievement though not one to be encouraged.

It is incredible given how little occurs in autumn ;)
So now the first episode is over what did you think?

Not making myself clear. Seemed a real shame that they waste so much time when there is so much they could say but instead prefer endless mindless banter between presenters. I don't expect I'll bother to watch any more. Despite the initial introduction (which set the tone) I hung-in there for the entire program and now feel its an hour of my I will never get back.

The "live" seems to mean live introduction to film recorded over the summer. And the "live is just padding to stretch out the little film they have to cover the allocated time slot. BBC can do a lot lot better and the ..Watch format ran its course a long time ago and needs a major rethink. Strachan has done a lot better but seemed to just want to be a Humble look alike.

Very very disappointing.
