Has anyone got any recommendations? I'm looking for fairly 'hard' stuff, not "101 ways to save the planet by hugging kittens" type affairs.

I'm also not really looking for autobiographical ones or anything describing someones 'journey' - either literally or metaphorically
I've been looking through Amazon - got a gift voucher to spend

- and I've just got no idea where to go, the whole field is so politicised that I feel I can't trust the reviews. Everything I can find seems to come across as either too wishy washy and tree-huggery or is so far the other way that you half expect to find chapters on the financial benefit of drilling penguins for oil. I'm looking for something written from a neutral point of view and with facts and figures. The sort of thing that might be used as a textbook on Uni/college courses?
Just to make it harder it'd be nice if it was available for the Kindle
