Some fantastic fungi are starting to appear in the Chilterns, including a few rarities. I found solitary amanitas, devil's boletes and earthstars on my dog walk today. Take a look at www.bugmadgirl.blogspot.co.uk

A family walk through the woods today (well some of us ran!) There were all sorts of treasures to be found, including a pine hawkmoth caterpillar, chicken of the woods and plenty of blackberries!

We've been out hunting through the leaf litter for UK Fungus Day. Loads of great fungi out there including rare ashen chanterelles, deadly deathcaps and bizarre crested coral.

The weather is a bit soggy and very foggy, but the fungi seem to be loving it! Take a look at what we found at www.bugmadgirl.blogspot.co.uk

I'm thrilled to have won the invertebrates category of Mark Avery's writing competition. The piece was called Voluptuous Death and was all about fabulous death's-head hawk-moths.
