We've caught lots of very handsome hawkmoths for #30DaysWild day 11 - privet, pine, eyed and 4 elephants! Proves that not all moths are small and brown!

Our small tortoiseshell caterpillars have hatched. Take a look at the moment one of them emerges from their chrysalis. Video and photos at www. bugmadgirl.blogspot.co.uk

I found yellow bird's nests on my walk through the woods this morning for #30DaysWild day 13. Wierd and wonderful, they contain no chlorophyll so form a parasitic relationship with fungi to obtain their nutrients.

Most girls pick their Mum's flowers from their garden, but mine brought me a rare sawfly for #30DaysWild day 15. I asked the experts and it turns out it's called Xiphydria longicollis and this would be only the 3rd one recorded in the UK!

I may not get flowers, but I wouldn't have it any other way!

Looking for bee orchids for #30DaysWild day 16.
Very sad to find the hundreds of bee orchids that grow on a nearby slope had been mown recently. On the way home though we found stunning bee orchids and white pyramidal orchids growing in a car park. Orchids grow in the strangest places!

Happy Father's Day for #30DaysWild day 18.

We got some great views of the back garden red kite chicks today, as a very proud Dad looked on. They're growing so fast!

We also caught 6 elephant hawkmoths and 3 scarlet tiger moths in the moth trap last night. Our back garden really is a jungle!

I walked through a foxglove wood for #30DaysWild day 20. Very few foxgloves this year, but the ones that were there were beautiful.

I visited the Ragpits at Aston Clinton this morning (before it got too hot) for #30DaysWild day 21. It's such an amazing place, full of wonderful orchids and insects. Take a look at what I found at http://www.bugmadgirl.blogspot.co.uk
