Evening, I joined the site on 8 Jan 12 although have been reading the BBC Wildlife magazine for around 3 years now. When I log on to the site a screen comes up saying 'access denied' but I am logged on the site and can navigate around - anyone know the reason for that.

My interests are in wildlife watching and also photography so hope to pick up some tips and interesting places to visit from the forum.

Welcome to forum Brock. Hope you've got plenty of badger tales to tell given the screen name :D
The past is just that, the past. Today is what matters.

You higher mammal, can you read?

Unfortunately not except for one ironic tale. Travelling back from a funeral in Blackburn on the Southbound carriageway of the M6 we were talking about various animals and I mentioned that I had never seen a badger. Anyway moving into the centre lane the traffic did its usual with brake lights coming on and eventually we all came to a stop. There were only two cars in front of me with a clear road ahead and I was confused as to why we had stopped as there was no accident. The others in the car asked what the hold up was and as I looked ahead replied it is only a badger limping across the carriageway. I just could n't believe it as only a 15 minutes early I had said I had never even seen a badger and here was one limping across the M6! It was brilliant to see everyone stopping but I did not think much of its chances of getting across the N orth bound carriageway - I just hoped it made it. :)

That's pretty bizarre! Near enough the exact same thing happened to me. Literally minutes after discussing I'n never seen a badger on appeared in my car headlights down the dark country road we were on. Thankfully I didn't hit it and he/she disappeared safely into a hedge. My main memory from that night was the shock at how big the badger was - I think my mind had them as cute cuddly little things - but this fella was huge!
