Ljay Nature Rambles

Postby LjayNature » Mon Aug 01, 2016 2:54 pm

This is my blog about wildlife in my local area. I live in Cheshire, next to the border of Wales and Wirral. There is so much to see from the Cheshire plains, the Dee estuary, coast and the hills and mountains of Wales. I am truly blessed to live here and see such a fantastic range of wildlife.

Feel free to check out my latest local wildlife blog about a reptile and amphibian ramble I went on. It was an amazing day.

After spending time surveying reptiles I decided that I would write my next blog about the beautiful grass snake. I really enjoyed learning all about them, holding them and not to mention..being covered in a smelly substance by one :D

Hope you enjoy my blog- https://ljaynature.wordpress.com/2016/0 ... ass-snake/

At the weekend BBC Wales showed a program called Iolo's Great Welsh Parks.
Naturalist Iolo Williams appears on Springwatch as well as other nature programmes both in English and Welsh.

Check out my blog below to hear about my experience appearing on TV with Iolo.

I spent Friday walking the coastal dunes of North Wales in search of amphibians and reptiles. I enjoy taking part in wildlife surveys and I got to hold my first common lizard too :D

Todays blog is written about my encounter with a hoopoe bird in North Wales. I had never seen one before and it was stunning. Unfortunately, such is nature, a peregrine took it tonight so this blog is now in memory of the lovely little Conwy hoopoe :(

I went to see the high tide yesterday at Parkgate, Wirral for an early birthday treat. It was a fantastic day full of wildlife from a merlin to a tiny field vole.
Here's my quick blog all about it :)
