Bottlenose Dolphins, 6th October 2012

The promised weather window materialised and so the trip out to and beyond Loop Head went ahead. Sadly there were no Minke Whales and the Common Dolphins we were radioed about cleared off before we could get to the stated location but we had three Bottlenose Dolphin encounters which I was delighted with.

Foxes versus Hedgehogs

I've been led to believe by websites and so say experts that these two species of wild animal can't co-exist together, by this I mean that foxes will try and kill hedgehogs and it they don't kill them, they will at the very least maim them!!

Now I've had webcams in my garden now since July and I review the footage recorded every morning and not once have I ever seen the two species even ...

Funny wildlife of my garden (London) Funny wildlife of my garden (London)

This is all very amateur for the moment, but when my "professional" camera arrives, I hope to make much better recordings :) Previously I managed to film the fox in my garden but the resolution was awful because it was done with mobile phone and from far, so I tried to put mobile phone next to the food and patiently wait.... But as you will see here, ...

more Autumn sightings

Hi all
So far it's been a fruitful and surprising Autumn.
I saw a pair of Great Spotted Woodpeckers in the back garden yesterday morning about 7.30am – couldn’t get to a camera in time! On Sat 15/9 a pair Of Egyptian geese and their 7 siblings touched down in my local park. We had had a pair of Egyptian geese about 3 years ago and we made them very welcome. They stayed a few ...

Pilot Whale stranding in Scotland

16 pilot whales died after beaching themselves just outside Anstruther in the East Neuk of Fife on Sunday. British Divers and Marine Life Rescue managed to refloat another 10, although apparently many of these then tried to beach themselves again. Another 24 whales were in shallow water at Cellardyke just a few miles down the coast and there were fears they were going to do the same.

I ...

Bees eating flowers

AS most of you will have picked up by now, I'm a bit of a beginner at all this wildlife stuff. The bad thing about this is I'm constantly saying stupid things (no, need to point them out, I know you've noticed! ) but the good side is that I'm still constantly discovering new amazing things. My latest is that bees eat flowers!

I spotted this ...
