March podcast

Postby Hannah » Fri Feb 20, 2009 10:13 am

Good news folks - the latest podcast from BBC Wildlife is now available to download through the website.

The team are joined in the studio by mammologist and BBC Wildlife regular Steve Harris, who tells us why he's so happy about British wildlife at the moment, and discuss which wildlife spectacles are at the top of their must-see lists. True to form, they also bring you the latest news and reveal which pages of the March issue you should be flicking to first.

Enjoy!

favorite/most memorable wildlife spectacle: [ul][*]watching migrating salmon into and up a river is one of the wildist things i've ever seen.
[*]feeding a swallowtail butterfly catepillar to a praying mantis was one of the grossest yet coolest things ive seen. imagine a giant green zit popping[*]the fearlessness of galapagos animals to humans[*]a horizontal line of cuttlefish all swimming in cadence in front of a coral reef[*]watching leaf cutter ants (at the zoo/museum)[*]the flight of a hummingbird -they make a loud noise in the western us [/ul]

Glad to hear the Podcast again. Really enjoyable.

Top wildlife sighting for me, living in Norfolk, has to be Pink Footed Geese going in and out of Snettisham reserve.
In mid December I stood in the garden for 30 mins watching flock after flock of geese flying over. The noise was just incredible, and the sky wasn't empty at any point during those 30 mins. To my mind this has to be the biggest, most accessable wildlife spectacle this side of the Masai Mara!

Keep up the good work with the podcast folks. [;)]
I'd agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.

I agree Jim. The sight and sound of wild geese in North Norfolk is breathtaking. The wader flocks aren't bad either. Everyone should try a winter break there. I used to go to Wells, but haven't been for about 7 years.
