Notes From My Nature Diary on my Local Patch in North Essex

Postby Wendy224 » Fri Apr 07, 2017 8:18 am

I keep a blog on my local patch, which is an area of farmland, with a band of woodland running through it and a fallow field. Here is the first of 2017's blogs as things began to wake up and spring began to arrive.

And now Spring has really arrived on my local patch, with overseas arrivals and a welcome return of some long missed residents:

Not only do I keep local patch diaries, I also do similar for regular places that we visit. Just after Easter we had a few days in Suffolk and one particularly exciting afternoon at RSPB Minsmere, where we had the first time delight of watching a pair of Bitterns displaying. Here is my blog on that afternoon.

I also count places we regularly visit for short breaks to be 'local patches', so here is a blog from a recent trip to Suffolk.

We were very fortunate to watch a pair of Bitterns courting, which is behaviour we have not seen before, so here is my account of an exciting few hours in the Bittern Hide at RSPB Minsmere, just after Easter.

Am a little behind on my Local Patch - a blog is on it's way, however we are just back from a short trip to the Isle of Mull, which is a real wildlife treasure trove. Here is my trip report on just about all that we managed to see:
