puzzling beaver behaviour

I have a question about beavers and their "living habits". Is it possible that beavers just hang out around one stream or river for a time period and then move on to a more permanent location? Do beavers do this? Move from one area to the next? I thought beavers stayed in one location once they built a dam for two to three years then move on?? I didn’t think they move from one location to another as the season changes?? I tried looking this up online but found no definitive answer? If anyone out there knows about this kind of behavior among beavers I would be interested in hearing about it.
