Camera Trap Footage

Postby Steefo » Fri Feb 03, 2012 11:40 am

Hi,

In the January edition of Wildlife it suggests 52 wild things to do in a year. One of the things suggested was to shoot your own wildlife films using remote camera traps. I have been doing this over the last year as a hobby and have collected clips from the UK, Brazil and Zambia of wildlife such as otters, badgers, giant armadillo, jaguar and porcupine to name a few. Here's a selection of my clips. I hope you like them. It would be great to see other people's footage as well.

Otters playing on river bank

Badgers in Norfolk

UK garden birds on bird feeder

Mischievous vervet monkeys

Giant armadillo

Brief jaguar tail

Welcome to the forum!

Thats some great stuff, particularly like the otters footage, though I did feel a little sorry for the poor wee robin that was having to work so hard for a peck at the fatballs!

Would love to invest in a cameratrap at some point

Glad you like the clips. The camera traps are great fun and you soon discover a lot of new things you didn't even know you had in your garden. In terms of buying one I have always bought mine from US on ebay as even with the customs charges they are often a lot cheaper.

I've had my camera trap sett up near a badger sett over the last week. Here's some badger footage that was recorded:

Here's a short clip of some of the birds I have had on my garden bird feeder this month. Notice one of the long tailed tits isn't living up to its name. Possibly caught by cat????

Here's a clip of a muntjac deer showing an interest in my camera trap! Some animals notice the cameras whereas others can be completely oblivious!

I have been wanting to get some footage like this for a while. It is HD footage from my camera trap of a fox during the day. I hope you like it.

I set my camera trap up at the entrance of a badger sett and got some nice footage of some very itchy badgers carrying out some spring cleaning. Hope you like the video!
