The Newcastle Diaries

Postby CommonByNature » Sun Feb 04, 2018 8:32 pm

The ‘Newcastle Diaries’ are a new series blog posts brought to life by a recent move to the city; inspired by a growing frustration at not being able to visit my regular, rural haunts half as often as I would like. While I assumed a move here would greatly decrease the time I spend in nature, quite the opposite has happened. And I now find myself growing increasingly fond of the city, her wildlife, and unique character.

My first post 'Jewel in the Crown' centres on perhaps the last bit of pristine habitat remaining within the city limits: Gosforth Park. Today, Otters, Roe Deer and Willow Tits stole the show. :D

The eye of the beast

Postby CommonByNature » Fri Mar 02, 2018 10:46 am

The beast from the east has descended and, forgoing my better nature, yesterday I found myself keen to assess it's impact on my local wildlife. It was not a pretty picture.
