I was munching some sorrell only yesterday as it happens, with Fergus and Hannah W from the magazine - we agreed that it's very lemony, zingy, colourful, interesting stuff, but not everyone likes it.

Otherwise there are still ramsons and of course nettles. Anyone have any better suggestions?

That wood sorrel was very yummy - perfect for livening up potatoes or salad, or just to chew on with a glass of white wine. As Ben says, might not be for everyone, but give it a try and let us know what you think!

Wood sorrel has been covered in the latest issue of the mag, but are there any other plants worth picking at the moment?

Yes - hairy bittercress!

While in the garden today I nibbled a small, interesting-looking white-flowered weed growing between the stones in a gravel path. I probably should be more careful what I put in my mouth, but it turned out to be delicious. Amazingly so, in fact. Just like rocket. Amazing that a weed growing in the garden tastes as good as the bagged stuff supermarkets charge a lot for. Even better, the genuine rocket that my missus has just sown won't be ready for a good while yet, so this will tide us over till then...

When I googled hairy bittercress I found plenty of pics. It's quite an undistinguished plant, but (in my opinion) well worth searching for.
