Well first and foremost its so exciting to have been named blogger of the month! Thank you to everyone who reads and enjoys my posts, and to the people in charge of the picking! The only thing more exciting than this is finally grabbing a semi decent shot of the infamous Resplendant Quetzal!

Hola! Last week I joined our local bird group for 3 days of birding in an area called Fortuna! We then continued on to bird an area called Rambala which has a completely different set of species than the Boquete area due to its proximity to the Caribbean. I saw some really interesting new species with the highlights being Emerald Tanager, Long Tailed Tyrant, Red Capped Manakin and Juv. Great Black Hawk! My latest blog post can be found here: http://thegamblingbird.blogspot.com/2016/03/group-birding-bonanza-in-fortuna-panama.html

Hello everyone! Excuse the absence but I have been busy birding. In my latest post I share some photos from my 29th birthday trip t the Altos Del Maria area of Panama. It was a great time and I saw many new birds (Rufous Browed Tyrannulet, Whistling Heron) and got some great photos of ones Ive seen before! I also was able to see this Garden Emerald feeding its young. Heres the link to the latest post for those who are interested! http://thegamblingbird.blogspot.com/2016/04/altos-del-maria-in-april.html

I decided to attempt to articulate why exactly I like bird watching in my latest post. It was hard and I barely scratched the surface but I finished the post! I also included some wonderful pictures of Golden Browed Chlorophonia if anyone is interested! Enjoy your day everyone. http://thegamblingbird.blogspot.com/2016/04/why-i-like-bird-watching.html

Recently I took a short trip to Costa Rica to renew my Panamanian visa. Of course I turned it into a birding trip :) I saw some wonderful birds on my short three day stint. The highlights were Riverside Wren and Chestnut Backed Antbird. I share more in my latest post here: http://thegamblingbird.blogspot.com/2016/05/birding-kakau-jungle-cabinas-in-costa.html

As usual I have not been able to reduce my file size down so you'll have to read on for the pictures! Enjoy ladies and gents!

Woohoo! I am on a bit of a roll this week and I just completed my 2nd blog post. In the US Mothers Day was just celebrated so I dedicated this last post to my parents. Coincidentally I saw lots of birds with their babies this week and it fit perfectly with the theme. There are photos of an adult American Dipper feeding its offspring, an unknown Fledgling and many more. Enjoy everyone!

Hola Amigos! I recently moved to Bucaramanga, Colombia but before I started on the Colombia posts I wanted to play a bit of catch up with my last 2 months in Panama. My latest post specifically deals with my exploits in the last 2 months with my birding group, the Boquete Birders. Im ready to move on to a new city but I will really miss all the people I met there, and most are from my birding group. My post has photos of Collared Aracari, Fiery Throated Hummingbird and more! http://www.thegamblingbird.com/2016/08/06/boquete-birders-el-valle/
Also for anyone who has not checked the blog in a while I completely redid it! I hope everyone enjoys!

Hey friends! If you need a break from the Olympics I just finished up my last post about Panama. Im excited to start posting about my new home Colombia but I wanted to tie up a few odds and ends first. In my latest post I share a lot of photos of Ornate Hawk Eagle and Green Crowned Brilliant. Ornate Hawk Eagle is hands down one of the more intricately patterned birds of prey I have ever seen... an its worth a look! I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend! Huzzah! I just wrote my first post from Colombia. I randomly took a chance and went birding at a hostel a few hours away from my new home and came out with some smashing results! I ended up seeing a Critically Endangered species! In my new post I also share pictures of Saffron Finch and Bran Colored Flycatcher. Heres the link for anyone who is interested! Its time for another Colombian post! And hopefully this time I will figure out how to use the URL code correctly lol!

Huzzah! The preview shows success!
In my latest post the photographic highlights are Beryl Spangled Tanager, Blue Capped Tanager and one very obliging sloth. I also go super super far out on a limb and discuss how dating and bird identification are similar. Hopefully you find it strange and somewhat entertaining :) Enjoy the rest of your weekend everyone!
