No field trips last week so my regular round-up in pics is all based in Dalby Forest, North Yorkshire and includes a sparrow on parade, nesting swifts, moths, butterflies, orchids, fens and meadows.

Chimney Sweepers. Not the prettiest of moths but to me they're special. My latest post is all about them.

What's in the Moth Box? My latest round-up of June's moth records on my local patch in the North York Moors.

I've been a bit busy lately so my regular 'week in pics' post covers three weeks! I can't believe that it's that long. Time has flown. Highlights for me have included an uncommon moth, butterflies-a-plenty, baby birds finding their feet and a sunbathing bunny. Hope you enjoy it.

Finally completed my regular monthly report 'What's in the Moth Box? July' on mothing in North Yorkshire. Camouflaged, delicate, common and uncommon moths are all represented as well as...erm.....leverets. Yes, I know they're not moths but they had to be included!

'Close encounters of the fawn kind' is my latest post about an all-too-brief encounter in Dalby Forest, North Yorkshire. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

My monthly report highlighting moth recording in North Yorkshire is finally done for August just in time to start September's!! I'm not sure where September went. I think I blinked and missed it. 'What's in the moth box? August' highlights include thorns, micros, carpets and a tiger.

A short piece about my favourite local flower, Grass of Parnassus. I hope you enjoy it.

In the dull, cold month of January, I found that I was reflecting on my trips to warmer climes. In a break away from my usual local patch reporting, my latest post is about how to see crocs in Costa Rica the easy way. I'm just so glad crocs don't live in my local beck!

Inspired by the 'Beast from the East', here's a short piece 'Snow: Keeping Up With Hungry Birds' about feeding the garden birds in the snow. I enjoyed watching the birds on my local patch here in the North York Moors during the snow but I'm glad it has finally melted....roll on Spring!
