I had a great day at Tophill Low Nature Reserve in East Yorkshire last week. With Kingfishers, Little-ringed Plovers and Marsh frogs, my latest post discusses why now is a good time for a visit.

A bossy blackbird, an extra mouth to feed, a quaking moth and painting signs....my latest post highlights my week in pictures.

What's in the moth box? Moth trapping is a regular occurrence on my local patch. Here is my monthly roundup of moth records for April.

Moth and butterfly chasing, exceedingly busy Nuthatches, sunbathing ducks, lazy birdwatching and getting up at ridiculous o'clock to celebrate International Dawn Chorus Day are amongst the week's highlights on my local patch. Here is the week 7th - 13th May, 2017 in pictures.

My latest post is all about erm...dog poo!! Dog poo in the countryside and on my local patch in particular to be precise. Don't worry, if you are of a nervous disposition, there are no photos of actual poo!

The latest in my 'week in pics' posts includes a visit to RSPB Blacktoft Sands, some bird behaviour and Butterworts galore. Beware, there is some spider imagery if you don't like them but I do give you a warning before it appears!

Completely avoided the thunderstorms this week but I think that's about to change!

Just completed my regular 'What's in the Moth Box?' post for all things mothy in May! It was a mixed month of highs and lows but a great range of moths, from the Poplar Hawk-moth to the tiniest micro, came to the light in my garden and around my local patch.

Rare moths, hide & seek, good and not-so-good neighbours, butterflies and bog plants (and a steam train!) - my weekly round up of the week on my local patch in pics.

A frenzy of orchids, bees that could be wasps, a duck's head, bioblitzing with the North York Moors National Park & Whitby Naturalists and a moth with an identity problem are amongst this week's highlights on my local patch in my regular 'week in pics' post.
