Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but here we go anyway.

Considering the fact that the BBC WILDLIFE Magazine is meant to be one of the worlds best selling wildlife magazines, its forum does not have many members. I am a member of other wildlife forums which have thousands of members, this forum however only has around 830 members.

I think that the magazine should do more to attract new members to the forum. This would mean a much greater variety of posts and subjects on the forum.

What do other members thing?

I have to agree. I check the forum almost daily & there are usually the same handfull of us on here.

Flip side of this guys is that there is little animosity on site. We are growing day by day and are a truely international forum., there are not many that can say that!
Yes I agree that there are more people pposting on some other forums but to be honest the same applies there, the same group of people do the majority of the posting. It's just the way forums work, a reflection of any meeting, there are those that speak out and those that are happy to go with the flow, chipping in when they feel comfortable.
To my mind the key here folks is to be supportive and respectful of peoples posts and opinions, even if you vehamently disagree. Some of the other forums end up in a massive slagging match if you don't agree with some of the major posters, and I would hate for that to happen here.
It would be great if more people contributed, but the site is young and the quality of folk and topics on here is fantastic and extremely diverse.
The magazine does have little bits dotted about. There is a caption at the end of the letters section. I don't know whether mentioning it more would work without seeing some statistics. For a while snippets from the forum were printed in the letters area, but to be honest I think just as many people have joined since that stopped.
Interesting stuff though. All I'd say is encourage new members who introduce themselves to post as soon as they feel comfortable.

I think the problem is that the forum is slow moving. A post can go days without a reply, so the problem is self perpetuating. New members will post and then not receive a reply and then give up looking.

I will keep posting for a while, but it’s no fun chatting with yourself! [&o]

My husband took that one, I was taking video footage that day (I usually take our photos and he the video footage, but he never takes enough video, so I was on video duty for once!)

It was taken in Bandhavgarh, India. Brothers, they were classed as cubs, just starting to gain their independence from their mother.

It was one of several magical experiences we had on our India trip back in March this year.
