Day 3 of 30 days Wild - Kayaking

Postby Appletonwildlifediary » Wed Jun 06, 2018 8:12 am

Early evening, when all the boat traffic has parked up, the wildlife has the river to itself. Majestic swans glide peacefully through the water, Greylag Geese chatter gently to their young and a Barn owl hunts alongside the river bank.

Day 4 of 30 Days Wild - Beach clean

Postby Appletonwildlifediary » Thu Jun 07, 2018 8:27 am

It was great to see that quite a few other people were also doing a beach clean on Horsey beach in Norfolk, but what would be better is if people didn’t drop the rubbish in the first place.

Being on a boat and travelling at only 4mph is a great way to pass a few hours and look out for wildlife.

Day 8 of 30 Days Wild - visit a nature reserve

Postby Appletonwildlifediary » Thu Jun 14, 2018 8:31 am

Your local nature reserve is a great place to relax and watch wildlife. Each nature reserve usually has its own specialist species.

Day 9 of 30 Days Wild - update on seal rescue

Postby Appletonwildlifediary » Fri Jun 15, 2018 8:05 am

Last week we visited Horsey Beach in Norfolk to see the seals.
We noticed that one of the seals had rope around its neck, so my mum reported it to Friends of Horsey seals. The seal was rescued the following day and taken to RSPCA East Winch.
The rescue appeared on the news. You can see the film clip link on my blog
