Your favourite animal films/tv programmes

Postby sezwa » Sat Aug 07, 2010 6:13 pm

Seeing as BBC Wildlife magazine did an article on the best animal stories in their latest issue I thought I'd ask something similar and wondered what your favourite fictional animal/natural world related films/tv programmes are.

Number one has to be Disney's "Jungle Book".

Hugely entertaining, a musical soundtrack that's second to none and the artwork is simply fantastic.

Does Lake Placid or Jurassic Park count... :D Was given the "Natures Great Events" series on bluray for my birthday as I missed it when it was on tv and I have to say its fantastic, the camerawork is awesome - and of course the narration is unbeatable!

I liked the 'Ice Age' trilogy personally, and of course 'Nemo' too. My fave though has to be 'Avatar' due to the underwater similarities of the plants and animals, and who wouldn't love a flight on one of those Pterodons

Oh yes, "Lake Placid". I like that one. I think Mrs Bickerman is related to Nana from the "Madagascar" movies.

The Ice Age trilogy are excellent I actually liekd the last one the best but I think I'm in a bit of a minority there!?

 This thread inspired me to watch it again on Friday night - fantastic film. Doesn't take itself too seriously - everyone is well aware there'll be no oscars coming! - but is fun throughout. Its actually pretty sympathetic to the crocodile too its not a monster out to get everyone its just an animal trying to survive.

I think 'Creature Features' might be my favourite film genre! I must admit I can't think of many 'realistic' animal portrayals in the movies that I love.

Plus the specialist shows like the recent one about Gorilla's. It's a pity that some of these shows are only a couple of episodes long.

Going to get these on DVD:
The Life Collection (all of David Attenborough's Life series)
Life
Nature's Great event
