Coral reefs by Alexander Mustard
Before becoming a full-time underwater photographer, Alex completed his PhD and worked as a marine biologist. The stories he tells with his images draw on this background. His 2007 book Reefs Revealed won an International Grand Prize at the World Festival of Underwater Photography the same year. Some of the images in this portfolio are from that collection; the others are more recent. These days, Alex’s underwater photography doesn’t solely focus on coral reefs. He is currently involved in the 2020VISION project, which uses visual imagery to highlight the need to preserve Britain’s ecosystems.
