Kingfishers by Charlie Hamilton James

Kingfishers have captivated Charlie Hamilton James since he was just eight years old. His passion for these ‘splendours of the brook’ led him to become a wildlife photographer and cameraman, and his film about kingfishers, My Halcyon River, was shown as part of BBC2’s Natural World series in 2003. More recently, Charlie has been making a new tv series for the BBC – Halcyon River Diaries, which follows him and his wife Philippa as they try to get their kids out on the river that flows past their garden to experience nature and the great outdoors.
