About the organisation

The Orangutan Foundation is one of the world's foremost orangutan conservation organisations. We aim to save Asia's endangered great ape by protecting its tropical forest habitat, working with local communities and promoting research and education.

The approach of the Orangutan Foundation goes beyond that of purely protecting the orangutan. Critically, we also recognise that orangutan habitat is unique in its richness of biodiversity and crucial for local communities, who are as dependant on the forest as the ape.

Wildlife photographer Brian W Matthews has been working with Orangutan Foundation for three years and had a great time on his recent visit. He says "I hope to go back to find young Brian the orangutan in the wild!"
