About the photographer
Vincent Rillardon was born in Auvergne, France, in 1973. After his studies he spent several years in the UK before returning home, four years ago, to start a career in wildlife photography.
He spends most of his free time photographing the wildlife of his region, and is keen to develop his naturalist knowledge in the mountainous areas of Massif du Sancy and Chaîne des Puys.
From January 2011, he followed these stoats for four months, documenting their daily lives. A discreet approach, constant respect for the animal, a lot of patience and a bit of luck helped him to capture these stunning pictures of this fascinating mustelid.
