About the photographer
Christian Ziegler is a biologist-turned-photographer specialising in tropical natural history. A frequent contributor to National Geographic and BBC Wildlife, he has covered topics ranging from tree frogs to ocelots, tropical bats and African primates.
He likes to think of his work as translating science, ecology and natural history into images that make these subjects more accessible to a broad public.
These intimate images, taken from his book Deceptive Beauties, allow us to appreciate orchids, nature's most intoxicating blooms, up close.
