This incredible photo gallery by entomologist and conservation biologist Dr. Piotr Naskrecki explores some of the oldest surviving groups of animals and plants.

It is taken from his latest book Relics: Travels in Nature’s Time Machine in which he takes readers on a journey around the world, to places that are windows to our old, beautiful planet’s past.
