BBC Wildlife has five pairs of tickets to give away to the Singing With Nightingales events, to the venue/date of each winner’s choice, to experience Sam Lee and his guests combining music, wildlife insight and story-telling with a live broadcast link to woods where wild nightingales are in full courtship sing.

The events are a concert version of the campfire nights which Sam and the roots music network, The Nest Collective, have been running at nightingale sites in southern England since 2015 and which are happening again this Spring in East Sussex, Essex, Gloucestershire and Kent.

Sam Lee says: “The song of the nightingale has been captivating human hearts and imaginations since ancient times but the numbers visiting the UK are in worryingly sharp decline and it is very rare to hear them now even in the countryside.”

“The aim of our events is to let more people experience the timeless and ear-tingling magic of nightingale song, discover the long and strong hold of the nightingale on myth, legend, arts and cultures and, if conditions are right, let audiences in on a truly extraordinary musical collaboration – a human/bird duet.”

Sam will be joined on the venue tour by at least two special guest artists, among them jazz musician Pete Judge, of Get The Blessing; Senegalese kora master and singer Kadialy Kouyate; the Welsh Music Prize winning singer and multi-instrumentalist Georgia Ruth and violinist/vocalist Alice Zawadzki.
