Online Photo Contest: Terms & conditions of voting and entry

Voting rules

  • BBC Code of Conduct for competitions: www.bbc.co.uk/competitioncode. All BBC Magazines promotions comply with the Code.
  • Contest open to all amateur photographers, except employees of BBC group companies.
  • Voting will close on the day stated on the competition.
  • After the closing date, one image will be named as the winner, based on the choice of the BBC Wildlife team and an independent party.
  • We reserve the right, at our discretion, to disqualify or discount any entrant, image or vote connected to votes cast by unfair means.
  • The winning image will be shared on BBC Wildlife's social media media accounts as the photo of the month. Prize non-transferable.
  • Winners will not be contacted – please visit the site after the closing date to see who has won.

Entry rules

  1. Competition open to all photographers aged 18 or over, other than employees of BBC group companies.
  2. Maximum 20 entries per person per contest.
  3. Each image can only be entered once. Duplicates will be removed.
  4. The image must have been created in the past three years and be your original work.
  5. You must be the sole author and owner of the copyright of all image entered.
  6. Source material or proof of permission to use must be made available on request by BBC Wildlife.
  7. BBC Wildlife does not accept any liability for the publication of unlawfully reproduced images.
  8. All images should show wildlife - in its habitat in the wild or in a captive establishment - or wild landscapes and plants, except where the theme of the photo contest is stated as otherwise. So please keep your pets and domestic farm animals for the appropriate contest/month.
  9. Computer-generated or computer-altered images will not be accepted. Artwork and illustrations will not be accepted.
  10. To enter, upload the image to the competition by the closing date specified within the contest.
  11. Image should be submitted as jpgs.
  12. All entries must be submitted via the online entry form.
  13. Immediate Media Company takes no responsibility for corrupted or late entries.
  14. By entering your image, you grant Immediate Media Company the non-exclusive right to reproduce it for any purpose at any time in any media with attribution. For example, we may use your images in online articles on www.discoverwildlife.com
  15. The winners consent to the use of their image, name and/or photograph in any publicity carried out by Immediate Media Company, without further compensation.
  16. The winning image will be judged by voters, and the BBC Wildlife team and an independent party, where appropriate.
  17. The BBC Wildlife team may share their favourite images on BBC Wildlife's social media platforms.
  18. BBC Wildlife’s decision on all matters relating to the competition is final. No correspondence will be entered into.
  19. BBC Wildlife reserves the right to withhold prizes if, in the opinion of the judges, the quality of entries falls below the standard required.
  20. The winning image will be shared on BBC Wildlife's social media media accounts as the photo of the month. Prize non-transferable.
