In a tweet to environmental organisation Greenpeace, David Harbour (who plays Police Chief Jim Hopper in the Netflix series Stranger Things) asked how many retweets they required to take him to dance with penguins.

Whilst Greenpeace set the bar high with an instruction for over 200,000 retweets, the social media plea paid off for Harbour, who accumulated over 330,000 retweets in less than 24 hours (reaching the target in five hours).

In response to his success, Greenpeace said, “Get your thermals.”

One of the most popular GIFs generated from the Stranger Things series is of Jim Hopper dancing.

Harbour is well-known for setting Twitter retweet challenges himself in response to requests from fans.

Last year, he appeared in a high school senior’s yearbook photos after he set her the task to have her request tweeted 25,000 times.

He is also due to be the officiant at a Twitter user’s wedding, after the bride-to-be also achieved the required number of retweets.
