Meet the team
Editor: Paul McGuinness
As the editor of BBC Wildlife, I’m lucky to spend my days with a talented team of knowledgeable and passionate wildlife fanatics.
This only serves to make me even more keen to seek out wildlife wherever I can. So when I’m not in the office, I can mostly be found out and about somewhere with my son looking to see what creatures and plants we can discover.
Deputy editor: Jo Price (on maternity leave)
I joined BBC Wildlife in June 2012 after completing a Diploma in Magazine Journalism at Cardiff University.
When not in work I enjoy walking my dogs on the Gwent Levels and keeping a look out for wildlife treasures to add to my nature table.
Features editor: Sarah McPherson
I work with Paul and Jo to commission features.
When not in work, or cheering on my sons from the side of a pitch, I enjoy long walks and trips to the coast.

I first joined BBC Wildlife in 2018 as a sub editor. I now work with Paul, Sarah and Megan to commission features and sections of the magazine, including Wild News, Tales from the Bush and Wildlife Champion. I also collaborate with picture editor Tom on Photo Story and Behind the Image.
I love meeting and learning from wildlife experts. Away from my desk I enjoy walking in the fields and woodlands of my local Somerset stomping ground and listening to the tawny owls outside my window at night.

I’m responsible for the look of the magazine. I design the cover and features, commission all photography and art work and oversee the layout of the other editorial pages.

I joined BBC Wildlife in November 2015. I have a background in ecology and have worked as photographer in a variety of countries Rwanda, Tanzania and Kenya. I liaise with photographers, sourcing images for the magazine.
When not in work, I can be found mountain biking (sometimes falling off) or blowing bubbles with my baby daughter at her swimming sessions.
Group digital editor: Carys Matthews
I'm the group digital editor of countryfile.com and discoverwildlife.com and writes regular features for the BBC Countryfile print magazine.
Away from the desk, I enjoy trail running, hiking, outdoor swimming and cycling in the British countryside and beyond.
Editorial and digital co-ordinator: Megan Shersby
After working for various conservation charities, I joined BBC Wildlife in 2016. I manage some sections in the magazine, as well as looking after the the digital side of the magazine with Carys, including the website, e-newsletter and our social media.
Outside of work, I enjoy trying to make my garden more wildlife-friendly, as well as trying to find and identify wildlife on nature reserves.
Editorial consultant: Ben Hoare
After 10 years and 136 issues as BBC Wildlife's features editor, my role has now changed. I am now an editorial consultant.
I'm a well-travelled birder and have finally achieved my ambition to see the world's largest and smallest birds. I wrote and edited natural history books for 12 years before joining BBC Wildlife in 2008. In 2015 I was awarded the British Trust for Ornithology's Dilys Breese Medal.
