About the competition

The Underwater Photographer of the Year Competition was born in 2014/15, and judged by Alex Mustard, Peter Rowlands and Martin Edge. It is an annual competition that seeks to celebrate photography beneath the surface of the sea, lakes, and rivers.

Since its inaugural year, the competition has grown and the 2018 competition received more than 5000 underwater photographs from photographers in more than 60 countries.
