Those of us with children may often worry about our kids being on their phones all the time. However, as the Wildscreen Youth Nature Photo Competition highlights, this isn't always as bad as it sounds.
The competition, open to young people aged between 13 and 18, encourages the use of smartphone photography as a way to get kids to spend more time in nature and express their creative side. It also shows how wildlife photography doesn't always need to involve expensive equipment – a smartphone and a good eye is all that is required.
The winning image from this year's competition was 'Sawfly snack attack' by Leah from Bristol, UK. Her delicate portrait of a hazel sawfly larvae was chosen from a whole host of stunning images that were submitted.
The Wildscreen Youth Nature Photo Competition forms part of Wildscreen ARK, an online education and storytelling hub designed to inspire young people to connect with nature through photography, film and digital content.
