The BBC has released the trailer for the long-awaited natural history TV series Blue Planet III.

It’s soundtracked by the original song, Into The Deep (Seas Cry), which has been written for the new series by BRIT Award winning and Mercury-prize nominated artist JADE, double Oscar-winning Hans Zimmer and Thom Lukas of the Emmy and BAFTA-winning Bleeding Fingers Music team. The third series will be soundtracked by Zimmer and Bleeding Fingers Music – with Zimmer also having worked on its predecessor Blue Planet II.

As part of tonight’s global premiere, some of the most remarkable moments from the series was shown on London’s iconic Piccadilly Lights. Sir David Attenborough, who returns to narrate the third instalment of the series, also shared a specially recorded message with guests at the event.

“Twenty-five years ago, when I narrated the first Blue Planet series it didn’t occur to me that I would be narrating a third series in my centennial year.

“The ocean is an endlessly fascinating place. In these new programmes we uncover a further wonderful array of underwater life, which is more surprising, more sophisticated and even more important than we ever realised. I am proud and delighted to be associated with Blue Planet III.”

Blue Planet III is expected to return to our screens this autumn.
