A wildlife lover has shown how a saltwater crocodile’s excellent camouflage makes these prehistoric predators almost impossible to spot in the water.
In the eerie footage, shared by Ellie Ryan on Instagram, a crocodile dips its head below the water, completely vanishing in a matter of seconds.
“Saltwater crocodiles can hold perfectly still for hours, letting algae and duckweed cover their heads,” says Oceans Nation on Instagram. “That camouflage lets them disappear into the water until the exact moment they strike.”
