Animal mouths come in all shapes and sizes. According to the Guinness World Records, the largest terrestrial animal mouth belongs to the hippo – fully open, its enormous gape spans a whopping 1.2m.
Then there's the gulper eel. This deep-sea fish is famous for its ability to devour large prey. Its lower jaw is around a quarter of the length of its entire body, and it has a hinge to allow it to extend even wider. Like a pelican, this denizen of the deep can suddenly inflate its mouth, engulfing unsuspecting prey in one gigantic gulp.
Here, we've found a close-up image of another amazing animal mouth – can you guess which creature it belongs to in less than 15 seconds?
