These photos of US wildlife are absolutely astonishing
From sun-basking alligators and feasting polar bears to iridescent hummingbirds and migrating salmon – these incredible images capture the extraordinary beauty of wildlife in the United States.
Sprawling mountain ranges, enormous lakes, sun-baked deserts, subtropical swamps, mighty rivers, ancient forests, sweeping glaciers, nutrient-rich seas – when it comes to landscapes and habitats, the US pretty much has it all. And where there is diversity in environment, there is diversity in life.
Grizzly bears hunt for salmon in Alaska's icy rivers, moose roam the meadows beneath Wyoming's soaring Teton Range and alligators gather on the banks of Florida's swamps.
